Extension of the National Public Health Emergency

The Department of Health and Human Services Secretary, Dr. Alex Azar, has recently extended the national public health emergency declared for the COVID-19 pandemic. The declaration, signed on Thursday July 23, 2020, renews the public health emergency that was set to expire on July 25, 2020. According to the Public Health Service Act, the new declaration will extend the national public health emergency for another 90 days. HHS has also announced that all waivers and payment flexibilities that were granted under the original PHE will remain intact during this time.
